About The Show

About Christmas In Boonton Township

Christmas in Boonton Township started as a “let’s see what we can do” project back in January 2012,
with an eye toward our first holiday show the following year. That first season turned into a small
static display, a lot of learning, and a promise to come back bigger and better.

Since then, the show has grown into a full synchronized display featuring
over 50,000 individually controlled RGB pixels. Instead of simple on/off strings,
each pixel is its own tiny computer-controlled light.

What’s a “pixel”? In our show, a pixel is a small LED that can be any color.
Each one has red, green, and blue elements inside, and by mixing those at different levels,
a single pixel can create up to millions of color combinations. When you put
tens of thousands of pixels together and sync them to music, you get waves, chases, color wipes,
and effects that move across the whole yard in time with every beat.

The display is sequenced on a computer and played back through dedicated lighting controllers.
Every tree, arch, and prop is mapped so we can tell each pixel exactly when to turn on,
what color to be, and how bright to shine — all in sync with the music you hear on 103.3 FM.

Christmas In Boonton Township is brought to you by the Scilingo family in Boonton Township.
We get a tremendous amount of help and support from our entire family, and we couldn’t put on
such a large display without them. Planning for each season begins in January, and we work on
new props, wiring, and sequences throughout the year.

Some of the biggest crowd-pleasers over the years have included our
20′ mega trees, leaping arches, rooflines and windows outlined
in pixels, and many other custom-built elements that light up in sync with the music.

Our hope is simple: to give families a free, cozy, and memorable holiday tradition right here
in Boonton Township.
From our family to yours,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thank You, Neighbors

We are incredibly grateful for our very patient and understanding neighbors,
who put up with the extra traffic and excitement our show brings each year. Please help us
keep things friendly by showing them the same respect:

  • Do not block driveways, mailboxes, or intersections.
  • Use the cul-de-sac to turn around – please do not turn around in neighbors’ driveways.
  • Dim or turn off your headlights while parked in front of the display.
  • Keep your radio volume at a respectful level and avoid loud external speakers.
  • Please stay in your vehicle and do not enter the front yard. There are
extension cords and wires everywhere, many of which are not easily visible in the dark,
and there is high voltage present to power the lights.

A quick smile and a “thank you” to our neighbors goes a long way if you happen to see them.
Your kindness helps keep this show welcome in the neighborhood year after year.
